THU43 - Risks Outlook: Medical and Security Challenges Facing INGOs

Jul 11, 2019 2:35pm ‐ Jul 11, 2019 3:35pm

From hurricanes in the Caribbean, earthquakes in Indonesia and unrest in Latin America, there are many medical and security challenges for International NGO?s. Diseases like Zika and even Ebola still prevail, along with the ever challenging road safety and traffic accidents. Mental health issues face many travelers, and there is always the need to be sure your diverse base - including LGBTQ staff and volunteers - have the support they need. A panel of experts will highlight challenges these issues bring for those charged with the healthcare and security of their staff, volunteers and local nationals. We will also address how International NGOs safeguard their travelers, discuss how organizations can protect their most important asset from the most common threats, and offer case studies, real-life examples and best practices.
