While NGOs have made great strides in strengthening security and critical incident management in recent years, establishing community best practices is limited by a dearth of objective data on the measures being taken. Drawing on information gathered through the 2018, INSSA member benchmarking survey, this session will review the evolving best practices within the NGO community and their effectiveness in managing risk and responding to critical incidents. Attendees will learn of peer practices in areas such as: staff preparation and training, risk management and critical incident response plans; as well as resources utilized for professional development, insurance and staff care.
