TH53 - Training the Next Generation of Humanitarian Leaders: The Pitfalls and Potential of Blended Learning

Jul 26, 2018 3:55pm ‐ Jul 26, 2018 4:55pm

Humanitarian work requires strong leadership and strategic vision; yet, humanitarian professionals have limited access to leadership training programs. In this session, learn creative ways to address this training gap and debate how to overcome challenges as we aim to invest in the next generation of humanitarian leaders. Explore the pitfalls and potential of blended learning training approaches (in-person and online, distance learning) designed to strengthen national NGO leadership capacity. Using the National NGO Program on Humanitarian Leadership model as a case study, this session will address a range of design implications like measuring impact, adapting current leadership models, and increasing localization.
